100WC Week
Oh. My. Gosh. I heard them before I saw them. It had been three years since I'd seen them last, but I couldn't forget that sound. I turned around and there tshe was. She caused me all that pain three years ago. I moved towns because of her. And she was now within 10 metres of me. I was preparing myself for a beating, I was just about to open my mouth when.........a hug.
"I'm sorry." she said.
I was about to give a rude answer back, but then I realised, she was really sorry, and she'd changed.
"Thank you."

Every year in New Zealand, on average 1600 people die of lung cancer, and 2200 people are diagnosed. This makes lung cancer the deadliest disease in New Zealand. Lungs are a vital part of a human’s respiratory system, they allow you to breathe, there are ways we can damage and potentially stop our lungs from working, and there are some ways to help prevent lung failure.
Lungs are a very important part of the respiratory system. Our lungs allow us to inhale and exhale carbon dioxide molecules in the air. When inhaling the oxygen, it carries through the mouth and down the trachea, also known as the windpipe. The average length of a windpipe is ten centimetres. After travelling down the trachea, the oxygen will then be divided into smaller airways, also known as the bronchial tubes. The bronchial tubes lead into each of the lungs, storing the carbon dioxide and oxygens for when you will need to exhale. A person usually breathes on average 2 litres of air every minute. When exhaling, the different oxygens will go out the bronchial tubes and up the windpipe, the same way it did when inhaling. The lungs also pump air throughout the body, as well as pumping air into the heart and allowing it to transfer blood around the body. Without both of your lungs you would not be able to breathe, causing death.
Smokers are 12 to 13 times more likely to die from lung disease than non smokers. The most common reason behind lung cancer is smoking. Even though anybody can get lung cancer, you have a much higher chance of getting a lung disease if you smoke. Four in five cases of lung cancer are due to smoking. Lung failure may be caused by damage to the tissue and ribs around the lungs. Some lung diseases and conditions are lung cancer, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) ARDS (acute respiratory disease syndrome) pulmonary embolism, and cystic fibrosis.
Although there is no way you can be immune from lung diseases, there are ways to help decrease the chances. The most common and important way to prevent your chances of getting lung cancer is to not smoke. By smoking you are doing tremendous damage to your lungs. Your lungs may start to get covered in tar, you will get bad breath and a dry throat, your esophagus will start to burn, causing you to cough, and you will start to get chest pains. Some other ways to help prevent the chances of getting lung cancer is to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, avoid secondhand smoke and polluted areas, and exercise most days of the week. By doing these simple tasks you chances of getting a lung disease are highly decreased.

How Does the Digestive System Work?
☾Ⓗⓞⓦ Ⓓⓞⓔⓢ Ⓣⓗⓔ Ⓓⓘⓖⓔⓢⓣⓘⓥⓔ Ⓢⓨⓢⓣⓔⓜ Ⓦⓞⓡⓚ?☽
The Digestive System works by moving food and water from your mouth to your rectum. It
breaks down the food, takes what the body needs, like fats, proteins, carbs and vitamins,
absorb the water, then creates waste to dispose of.
breaks down the food, takes what the body needs, like fats, proteins, carbs and vitamins,
absorb the water, then creates waste to dispose of.
The first part of the digestive system brings the food from the mouth to the stomach.
While chewing food in your mouth, saliva, which contains enzymes, will mix in with the food.
Once you’ve swallowed the food or water it will go down through the esophagus to the
stomach. Food only takes 7 seconds to go down the esophagus. The food will then land in
the stomach and stay there for 2-5 hours. In the stomach the gastric juices (which are made
up of acids, enzymes, mucus and other substances) will break down the food.
From the stomach the food substance will be directly moved into the small intestine. Here is
where 90% of absorption and digestion occurs. The small intestine absorbs all the nutrients,
vitamins and minerals from the food. It then stores all of this to give your body energy. With
the help of the pancreas providing enzymes, the small intestine adds bile to help dissolve and
break down fat. The big fat droplets turn into smaller droplets, which are easier to be made
into waste. Although the small intestine is thinner than the large intestine, it is actually the
longest section of your digestive tube. The average length of a teenager’s small intestine
is 7 metres. That’s almost four and a half times the height of the average teenager!

From the small intestine the food directly moves into the large intestine. Despite its
name, the large intestine is on average 1.5 metres long. The large intestine absorbs all the
water from the food to create a hard texture of waste to dispose of. This is the final part of the
digestive system before the food waste leaves the body through the rectum.

Term 2 Reflection
The past term in Room 14 has been a busy one! Some of the big events from this term is Student Led Conferences, Technology, Algrego the Magician, James Hargest Trials, Winter Sports and Practices, House Choir's Practice, Our Human Body Unit, ePro8 Practice and much more. We are also about to start our Puberty Unit and Self Defence.
My Highlight so far From Term 2
My Highlight in Term 2 so far has probably been House Choirs Practice, I am so excited for the final show (GO RATA!)! I also really enjoyed Algrego the Magician (although I was SSOOOO terrified of the birds!). One of my biggest fears is being with a flying animal in enclosed spaces so when Algrego was using birds in his magic act, I was SO scared when they might have flown around the hall, especially when one big bird kept chirping very loud (they didn't thank goodness!)!
This term I have also enjoyed Student Led Conferences and organizing ourselves for the presentation. Something else that was interesting and fun was Literacy Circles in Reading and working on our independent learning in Room 14.
Thanks everybody for reading my reflection! Thanks to Miss Taylor and Mrs Garrett for helping us learn! If anyone reading this has a blog they would like me to check out feel free to leave them below!
Here are a couple of my classmates AWESOME blogs:

Eyeball Dissection - Learning about The Human Body
Last Friday to start off our human body inquiry we dissected sheep's eyeballs. Each group of three got one eyeball to dissect and we had to watch a tutorial on how to do it properly. To help us dissect the eyeball we had a set of forceps (they look like nail scissors except one end is sharp and one is blunt) and tweezers. After we put our gloves on we had to work together to cut off the extra muscle around the eyeball. Then we had to make a cut into the eyeball and make a bigger cut around the eyeball from that slit. We then had to squeeze out all the different things inside the eyeball. There was a lot of black gunky stuff which we got out with the tweezers, we had to find the lens and put it to the side. If we wanted to we could also cut open the pupil part of the eye. Lots of blue stuff came out. My favorite part of doing this was seeing what is inside a sheep's eye (sheep's eye's are VERY similar to human eye's) as well as cutting off the muscle. My least favorite part was thinking that these could of been my neighbor's pet lambs! I am very proud of myself for getting stuck in as I'm usually grossed out by this stuff. I'm not looking forward to when we have to dissect a heart! If you have any recommendations, cool ideas, questions, or anything feel free to leave a comment down below! Thanks for reading!

Blogging Challenge Week #10 - Recap
For my recap on the blogging challenge I got my friend Natalie to reflect on my blog! But before you read that I'd like to say how much I enjoyed the blogging challenge this year and I'm so grateful that this was setup for us! Thank you Kathleen for organizing this as I have made some really good writing buddies and enjoyed getting an audience to my blog! My favourite weeks were when I was featured! I also really enjoyed waking up each morning eager to get to school and start reading to see who had left comments on my blog! I'm a bit upset that this awesome challenge is over but I will continue to write posts on my blog so keep an eye out! Anyways, onto Natalie's Reflection:
Here's what she said:

Here's what she said:
I think that Allies blog is definitely one to love and to keep up with her posts! I like how she makes her writing very clear, while adding the useful tips now and then. I really liked how she wrote about how to start a business as a kid, it is very inspiring and helpful, It will definitely help you now and later in life. In her 100 day challenge writing I love how she put a lot of description and a ‘mystery vibe’ throughout the story. My favorite blog post of hers would have to be the ‘about me’ writing. It is very exciting and has been well described! Allies comment replies are very clear and answered correctly.
I think Allie should keep up with the great blogging posts, you should definitely give her a follow and some comments!

How to Start a Business as a Kid
I'm sure all kids want to buy things but since they're too young to have a job, they can't make any money to buy anything. This is why today I am going to be informing you on how you can start a business as a kid.
First of all, you must have your parents permission. It is important to do this just so they can make sure you stay safe running your own business, and you can also talk to them about how you can help.
Secondly, find out what you want your business to be about. The most important thing about your business is it has to be something you enjoy, because if you're running a business and you don't like what you're doing, you're not going to be putting your full effort into it, whereas if you enjoy the business you run, it is more likely you'll put more effort in, which might mean you'll make more money. Write down 5 of your hobbies on a piece of paper, now for each hobby brainstorm 10 business ideas. For each business idea work out if it's possible, how much it would cost, if it's profitable, how much time it will need and all the factors. Once you've cut it down to just a few business ideas work out which one will possibly make the most money or you will enjoy the most. Once you have your business idea it's time to get into it! Here is my example: https://docs.google.com/document/d/13lPfrqq0vAiEKQse87BC6oe_7qVCBoDfaHFuY1fowYE/edit?usp=sharing
The third step is to buy all your products. To make money you need to spend money, so work out how much everything will cost and come up with the total. If you have enough money yourself to buy the products then do that, but if you don't you could ask a family member for a loan. You can make a Google Slides presentation as to why you need that loan, but remember, if you get a loan you'll need to pay it back. If you can't get a loan and you have no money you could do some odd jobs around the house and neighborhood to earn some money. Or you could go back to your business ideas and work out what might not cost money and although it won't make too much, it will give you enough money you need to start your big business idea. Remember, the money getting invested you will have to make back before you make any profits. For example if it was a $50 investment, and you get paid $20 out of that business, you have only made -$30, you will need to make another $30 before you are even and can make any money out of that business. And sometimes there might be costs along the way. You'll have to take that out of your profits and earn that money back.
The fourth step is advertising. There are many ways to advertise, Facebook, Instagram, Online, Craft Stalls, On the Streets, In a Shop, Mailboxes, The Paper, Pamphlets and loads more! You just need to decide what fits your business the best.
Your Final Step is to get your business out there! Make sure everybody knows about it! Don't be disheartened if you don't get a lot or any business at first, it only takes one person to use your business and then they might recommend it to 10 other people which will cause a chain effect!
I hope you enjoyed this post and it inspires you to start your own business! I have two businesses that you can check out for inspiration, click the links below!

100 Word Challenge Week #27
I sit in the corner of the room on the hard cold floor, wondering what had happened, where I was. All of a sudden a door opens.
"Apple?" Some lady asks.
"Um, no thanks." I reply.
"Why not? It's freshly picked."
"I don't really have an appetite right now." I lie. I hadn't eaten in hours.
"One bite can't hurt." She really wasn't giving up on this one.
"But... but it is the wrong colour!" I say, staring at the moldy green apple.
"Eat it like your life depends on it." She says strangely.
"Why?" I ask.
"Because it does."

Lions
The Lion is a mammal that belongs to the Felidae (cat) family. It is now an endangered specie.
Lions are very large animals. They have yellow brown fur and can grow up to 3 meters tall. They have strong bodies and big teeth. Males also have shaggy manes that change colour and length as the grow older. Males also have very powerful legs and are often bigger and taller than their female peers.
Males can mate and have up to 5 cubs at a time. Males can mate over 100 times day during mating season, and they uncommonly mate with their daughters. Mating season comes only once a year. Males also leave families to find other lionesses to mate with, They try to mate with new lionesses every year.
Lions get tramples and killed by buffalo's quite often. When cubs are born they have a 60%-70% chance of dying from predators. Lion's most common predators are Hyena's, Buffalo's, Leopard's and Black Back Jackel's. Lions can also be their own predators as the male lions often kill the pride of cub to get all the attention from the mother lioness.
Lion's live in Central African Republic, Angola, Botswana, Mozambique and Tanzania. Lions live in prides of 10-15 animals. There surroundings are often grasslands and woodlands and they wander a territory of 259 square kilometers. They often sleep and lye under shady trees. Lions live in a very warm climate with a year round average of 33.9 celcius.

Some of my favorite things to do is go to theme parks, catch waves on my boogie board at the beach, shopping at Kmart, go biscuiting up at the lakes, finding new river holes and going on river walks. Some of my favorite places I've been is Melbourne, Waiheke Island, Vanuatu, Sydney, Manly and the Gold Coast. My favorite experience in life was being able to watch Roger Federer play at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne during the 2018 Australian Open.
